TN Turkey Season

Here in TN, turkey season begins on April 3rd (we are counting down the days), but the Dickel turkey (smart birds) know that they are safe as long as they stay on Dickel property, because there is "NO HUNTING" allowed.

We have been seeing about 14 gobblers (most with beards that look like paint brushes) and about 40 hens on a daily basis for quiet some time now. This may be due in part that the guards keep them plenty full by tossing them corn daily.

Every morning as we are measuring, cooking, fermenting and filling or emptying barrels we can hear the rumbles in the holler as the turkey come off roost and start gobbling and strutting.

We think spring has finally arrived, not only from the turkeys but also from our surroundings, the grass and trees are getting green, buttercups are blooming everywhere. We think this is a sure sign its here to stay.

We think our buddies in North Carolina (GDRCS) are bout ready for a few road trips!!!!!!!
